TJ Swim and Dive Teams Complete Regular Season
The Thomas Jefferson Boys and Girls Swim & Dive Teams narrowly lost
their dual meets against Liberty District opponent Woodson. The boys
lost 156-159 while the girls lost 154-161. Both teams finished the
regular season with 4-3 records. The Liberty District Championship
will be held February 6-7.
The Jefferson team of Anna Lan (McLean), Lauren Laffosse (Burke),
Brianna Kim (Fairfax), and Jae Sim (Reston) won the medley relay.
Individual event winners for the TJ girls were Brenna Ferris (Herndon)
in the 200 freestyle, Katie Bennett (Arlington) in the individual
medley and backstroke, and Laffosse in the 500 freestyle. Other top
three finishers were Laffosse and Kim in the individual medley,
Christina Wallin (Fairfax) in diving, Ferris and Kim in the butterfly,
Sim in the 100 freestyle, Kelsey Rainey (McLean) in the 500 freestyle,
Lan in the backstroke, and Aedan Collins (McLean) in the breaststroke.
The Jefferson boys captured all three relays. Wade Gong (Herndon),
Alex Dona (Alexandria), Matt Callahan (Vienna), Sam Speers (McLean),
and Stephen Seliskar (McLean) were each on two winning relays, and
Zachary Batts (Reston) and Joey Bouchard (Annandale) were also on
winning relays. Individual event winners for the boys were Seliskar in
the 200 and 500 freestyles, Gong in the individual medley and the
backstroke, and Bouchard in the 50 freestyle. Other top three
finishers were Peter Ballen (Arlington) in the 200 and 500 freestyles,
Andrew Hong (Fairfax Station) in the individual medley, Callahan in
the 50 freestyle and the breaststroke, Dona in the butterfly, and
Bouchard in the 100 freestyle.
